December 4, 2019

The California State Water Resources Control Board (Water Boards) is hosting a two-day seminar and concurrent Datathon on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The seminar will focus on PFAS in California: Past, Present, and Future. Topics will include PFAS chemistry and toxicology, site investigation challenges, remedial technologies, current PFAS regulations and orders in California, product stewardship, and case studies. Speakers invited include representatives from the Water Boards, US EPA, Department of Toxics Substances Control, Department of Defense, local and non-governmental organizations, research organizations, and others.

The datathon will run concurrently during the summit and will invite data wranglers to work alongside PFAS experts to develop data schema and answer broader PFAS questions. The data teams will then present their findings to seminar attendees to close out the seminar on the second day.
