PFAS Global Updates 2022

September 7, 2022

PFASs have made headlines around the world over the past few years. The much-anticipated fourth conference in our PFAS series brings you the most up-to-date regulatory and scientific developments at global and regional level, experiences of different sectors with phasing out per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, and practical case studies from many of the affected stakeholders to help you manage them in your products and supply networks.

In 2021 alone, Chemical Watch tracked 139 bills seeking to ban or restrict the use of PFASs across the 50 US states. This represents more than a third of all proposed bills relating to chemical management or product stewardship in the country. At this virtual conference, experts from industry will present their PFAS strategies focusing on challenges and rewards of using alternatives in different sectors, including packaging, food contact materials, textiles and firefighting foams and share with you the lessons they learnt on the way.

Key stakeholders, mainly from industry, will then relate their practical experiences relevant to the essential use debates around PFAS that will determine their continued use in products and processes. The complexity of decision making in this area also depends on how to approach alternatives which will also be partly considered in session two.

Expert speakers from national and regional authorities will provide overviews of different PFAS regulations and reflect on their implementation and enforcement in our final session, allowing a comparison of different definitions, approaches and timelines.
