Public Workshop on Food Packaging with Perfluoroalkyl or Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFASs)

August 31, 2020

Comment on DTSC's Proposal for New Priority Products August 31, 2020, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM PST, DTSC seeks your input on its proposal to list one or more new Priority Products under the Safer Consumer Products (SCP) regulations. The proposed Priority Products consist of plant fiber-based food packaging containing perfluoroalkyl or polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs).

DTSC's rationale for proposing this Priority Product is explained in the Product-Chemical Profile for Food Packaging Containing Perfluoroalkyl or Polyfluoroalkyl Substances, available for comment on the CalSAFER portal. The comment period closes at 11:59 p.m. on September 13, 2020. The SCP Program previously sought public comment on a background document about this product-chemical combination (https://calsafer.dtsc.ca.gov/cms/commentpackage/?rid=12745), and further explored the topic at a workshop on January 14, 2020. Materials from that workshop are available at https://dtsc.ca.gov/scp/safer-consumer-products-workshops-events/. DTSC will consider both verbal input at the workshop and written comments submitted during the public comment period, as we continue to refine the Priority Product definition. We look forward to your participation.
