"Cape Fear River Watch will host a practice hearing Monday to prepare community members for an upcoming state hearing on proposed PFAS rules.

Cape Fear Riverkeeper Kemp Burdette will lead the session, which will allow community members to practice public comments. Members of the Cape Fear Sierra Club will provide an overview of PFAS and the proposed rules.

The practice session is free and will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on April 20 at the organization’s office at 617 Surry St.

The NC Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Environmental Management Commission is accepting comments on rules that would monitor and minimize three PFAS compounds: PFOS, PFOA, and GenX."
