City of La Crosse reportedly denies $42.4 million PFAS compensation claims, clearing the path for lawsuit

"The City of La Crosse has denied claims totaling $42.4 million related to PFAS contamination on French Island.

Tim Jacobson, an attorney for the firm representing those residents, confirmed on Friday that the city sent certified letters denying the claims.

In June, residents on French Island served the city with those claims, saying that PFAS groundwater contamination in the Town of Campbell diminished property values and caused other harms.

Jacobson says they fully expected the city to deny the claims, and that this is part of the claims process."
