"Dayton’s water lab has become the first municipal or commercial lab in Ohio to achieve state certification for PFAS testing, which officials say should help hold down testing costs while ensuring samples are tested in a prompt manner.

“Our excellent water professionals have once again shown that Dayton’s water utility is a true industry leader,” Mike Powell, Dayton’s water director, said in a prepared statement. “This continues Dayton’s long legacy of proactive protection of our water resources and responsiveness to changing regulatory requirements.”

According to the city, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has certified that its water lab can detect polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) at levels of 2 parts per trillion in water samples."
