"A PFAS lawsuit against the Gerald R. Ford International Airport Authority will now be executed in Kent County's 17th Circuit Court.

Originally set to be handled at the federal level, the lawsuit was given back to the 17th Circuit Court after a motion by the State of Michigan was granted Wednesday, according to the attorney general's office.

“This case should have rightfully remained in State court as we’ve contended violations of State environmental and public health laws,” Attorney General Dana Nessel said. “The Airport Authority has consistently refuted their responsibility to clean up their own mess, and that is why we are in court—to compel them to act responsibly and repair the harm they’ve inflicted on the State’s natural resources as well as their neighbors’ drinking water supply.”

Filed by Nessel Sept. 11, the lawsuit alleges Gerald R. Ford Airport had PFAs contamination in nearby drinking water sources due to "aqueous film-forming foams," officials said."
