German insurers encouraged to exclude coverage of PFAS liability

"Fears of potential lawsuits and future liability over contamination from the use of so-called 'forever chemicals' has prompted German insurers to consider new clauses limiting coverage for damages.
The chemicals, known as PFAS, repel water, dirt and grease and withstand extreme temperatures, making them a key ingredient in many consumer products – but have also become the subject of increasing warnings about potential negative health implications.
In new guidance announced on Wednesday, the German Insurance Association (GDV) encouraged insurance firms to insert a clause in policies that rules out paying for damages attributable to PFAS."
