"Two upcoming public hearings on CleanEarth’s permit to treat PFAS-contaminated soil in the village have been canceled after the sale of the company.

CleanEarth was purchased on June 1 by Veolia, a French multinational hazardous waste management company, for $3 billion. As a result, CleanEarth’s plans for a two-week pilot project to test chemical-laden soil have been suspended.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation, which was to lead public hearings set for June 8 and 16 at Hudson Falls High School, posted a notification that the meetings have been “adjourned until further notice” and review of CleanEarth’s research, development and demonstration permit application has ended."
