Maine begins covering cost of PFAS blood testing

"Blood tests are now becoming more accessible for people in Maine who were exposed to toxic PFAS chemicals.
In coordination with a 2022 bill that was passed, a health program is now starting to roll out. It provides funds to cover the cost of testing for eligible residents—some of whom have already begun receiving notices by mail.
PFAS, which are per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, are synthetic chemicals often found in contaminated water, soil, and even food packaging. Prolonged exposure has been linked to serious health problems, including organ damage, reproductive issues, and several forms of cancer."
