"The Port of Kennewick is temporarily pausing property sales at Vista Field amid PFAS being detected in the region.
The hazardous chemical, which is found in items like non-stick cookware, fire-fighting foam, and de-icer, was discovered back in June on a commercial lot under construction at the urban redevelopment site.
The port had already paused all construction of additional parking lots and utilities until additional soil testing could be completed.
Port leaders now tell us that about 25 tests will be conducted across the site in mid-August, with the results expected around Labor Day."
