"Seven U.P. airports have been awarded grants to address PFAS contamination.

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy announced in a Thursday press release that $9 million in grants will be awarded to 19 municipal airports across the state. Grants will address PFAS contamination related to the use of PFAS-containing firefighting foam.

Funding will be used for PFAS testing and monitoring, potential source control and cleanup strategies for groundwater and stormwater, as well as the cleaning of firefighting equipment and the replacement of firefighter turnout gear."
