"The owner of Sleepy Bear Mobile Home Park, located on the west side of Steamboat Springs, is seeking a new water system operator as well as solutions to address the elevated levels of PFAS, or “forever chemicals,” reported in April resulting in a federal water quality violation.

“We are well aware and working on both a new well operator and PFAS,” wrote Thomas Morgan in an email on Aug. 6. Morgan at KTH Enterprises in Carbondale owns the approximately 55-unit park. The on-site manager at Sleepy Bear deferred any comment to the owner.

The Environmental Protection Agency’s National Public Drinking Water Regulation for PFAS requires water systems with PFAS levels above established standards to implement solutions that reduce the chemicals by no later than April 26, 2029."
