Trump EPA Pick Seen Supporting PFAS Limits, Revising Water Rules

"If confirmed as EPA administrator, former Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.) is expected to support PFAS drinking water standards and prioritize rolling back wetlands regulations.

Zeldin, who was tapped this week by President-elect Donald Trump to become Environmental Protection Agency administrator, said little about water regulations when he represented a Long Island Congressional district from 2015 to 2023. Though his record is sparse, he has spoken out against wetlands regulations and voted for restrictions on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

“Swift deregulation” to “unleash” business will be Zeldin’s task at EPA, Trump said when he announced his nomination Nov. 11. Zeldin."
