"The U.S. Air Force is monitoring PFAS contamination at K.I. Sawyer with the help of the Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE). They’ve been testing water and soil samples on and off base.

Dubbed ‘forever chemicals,’ PFAS have been commonly used in firefighting foams. The exact adverse effects on health are currently being studied.

On Thursday afternoon, representatives from the Air Force, EGLE and the Marquette County Health Department addressed the public on the testing during a meeting of the Restoration Advisory Board."
