Village of Pellston receives $44 million grant for PFAS-free water system

"The Village of Pellston has been awarded $44 million in grant funding from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy to build a new municipal water system outside of the area impacted by PFAS contamination.

Per an Oct. 24 news release from Village Clerk Rebecca O’Neil, the project would create a completely debt-free system, but it requires 51% of current well users in the village to commit before construction can move forward.

To share updates and answer questions, the Village of Pellston is hosting a series of community meetings in collaboration with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, the Health Department of Northwest Michigan, and the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians."
