EU PFAS Ban Deadlines Seen as Slipping to Review New Information

"The European Chemicals Agency aims by December to analyze a record number of responses to a consultation on a plan to outlaw PFAS in the European Union, amid speculation that the plan could be delayed or substantially revised.

Work to assess the responses was ongoing, and would feed into opinions that two scientific committees must issue on the per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) prohibition, the Helsinki-based agency said in an emailed statement Friday.

“We will have more information about the work plans of the committees in December once there is a complete analysis of the information received through the consultation,”
