"Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-08),co-chair of the bipartisan Congressional PFAS Task Force, joined Senator Gary Peters (D-MI) in sending a letter to U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Inspector General Robert Storch requesting an updated report on DoD’s efforts to clean up toxic PFAS chemicals at military sites—and in surrounding communities—in Michigan.
Congressman Kildee has long championed efforts to hold the DoD accountable for PFAS contamination in Michigan communities. In 2019, Congressman Kildee led 31 of his colleagues in demanding answers from DoD Office of the Inspector General on the Department’s use of and response to PFAS at military sites. DoD OIG issued an initial report in response to that letter, but many of the questions raised in 2019 remain unanswered.
Given that Michigan communities with former and current military bases continue to suffer the consequences of their decades-long exposure to these toxic forever chemicals, the letter, cosigned by members of the Michigan delegation, requests an updated report with responses to these unanswered questions."
