"A bill to limit some objects from having forever chemicals on some household items passed the Illinois Senate.

These chemicals are known as PFAS, that are chemical bonds that last forever in the environment. Forever chemicals can be found in many items and in the global water supply.

This plan would ban PFAS from being added to cosmetics, dental floss, children items and toys, menstrual products, underwear and more. State Sen. Julie Morrison (D-Lake Forest) said Illinois will lead the way in banning these products.

"A lot of times states have to lead the way on some of these things," Morrison said. "The federal government isn't quite as nimble as a state government will come in and say wow that's right, that's a great idea."
