"Senators are calling on the Biden Administration to prioritize addressing toxic “forever chemicals” polluting sites in Michigan and throughout the country in its budget request for the 2023 fiscal year.

Sens. Gary Peters, D-Bloomfield Township, and Debbie Stabenow, D-Lansing, are among the group of senators who penned a letter to President Joe Biden Wednesday calling on the White House to accelerate its efforts to clean up PFAS, chemical contaminants which can lead to poor health outcomes for individuals exposed to them.

In a seven-page letter, senators called on the administration to include funding for more comprehensive data and research on PFAS contamination in the U.S., address regulatory issues currently standing in the way of enhancing public health and environmental protections and provide ample funding for ongoing PFAS testing and cleanup."
