"The Pentagon approved its first PFAS-free fire suppressant, opening the door toward airports putting out deadly fires without simultaneously putting firefighters, people, and the environment at risk.

Two sizes of a firefighting foam made without per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) were approved on Sept. 12 and placed on a military Qualified Products List, meaning the armed forces and Department of Defense contractors can purchase the foam to fight jet fuel and liquid fires on land.

A PFAS-free, also called fluorine free, foam made by Perimeter Solutions qualifies, said the Navy, which oversees the list of approved products."
