“Many Bucks County water systems have grappled with PFAS, aka forever chemicals, which can cause organ damage, cancer and other health problems, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
In 2023, Pennsylvania set the limit for two PFAS — PFOA and PFOS — at 14 and 18 parts per trillion. But a year later, the EPA under U.S. President Joe Biden set the limit even lower: 4 parts per trillion for each forever chemical.
The EPA under current U.S. President Donald Trump announced last week that it plans to uphold the 4 ppt limit, but would extend the deadline for public water systems to reduce PFOA and PFOS in drinking water from 2029 to 2031.” …
