"Gov. Tony Evers on Monday signed a pair of bills into law that will push out $133 million in state funding to address PFAS contamination across Wisconsin.

The GOP-authored legislation passed the Senate in March after years of back and forth between the governor and Republican lawmakers over how to spend the PFAS funding first set aside in the 2023-25 state budget.

The compromise creates protections for farmers, some businesses and other “innocent landowners” to not be held responsible for PFAS contamination they did not cause. It also allocates $80 million in community grants for testing and remediation efforts."
