Fluorine Mass Balance Analysis and Per-and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances in the Atmosphere
17 May 2022 | J. Hazard. Mater.
Ultra-short-chain PFAS were identified as the predominant components in outdoor air and organofluorine compounds were found to concentrate indoors in fine particles. A fluorine mass balance analysis revealed that up to 99% of PFAS in the atmosphere are unidentified.
Environmental Exposure to 6:2 Polyfluoroalkyl Phosphate Diester and Impaired Testicular Function in Men
17 May 2022 | Environ Sci Technol
Exposure to 6:2 diPAP may impair androgen synthesis and Leydig cell function in adult men, reducing the ability to regulate hormones.
Official health communications are failing PFAS-contaminated communities
10 May 2022 | Environmental Health
Immediate action should be undertaken to review and improve official health communications intended to inform the public and health providers about the risks of PFAS exposure and guide community and medical decisions.
Interaction of Per-and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances and Allostatic Load among Adults in Various Occupations
10 May 2022 | Diseases
Increased chronic physiological stress was positively associated with serum concentrations of certain PFAS, as well as with different occupation groups such as Public Administration and Arts, Entertainment, and Recreation.
Ultra-Short-Chain PFASs in the Sources of German Drinking Water: Prevalent, Overlooked, Difficult to Remove, and Unregulated
10 May 2022 | ES&T
“PFAS total” parameters like the adsorbable organic fluorine and total oxidizable precursor assay were found to provide only an incomplete picture of PFAS contamination in these water samples by not capturing these highly prevalent ultra-short-chain PFASs.
Suspect Screening and Chemical Profile Analysis of Stormwater Runoff Following 2017 Wildfires in Northern California
10 May 2022 | Environ Toxicol Chem
Stormwater runoff from the San Francisco Bay area was found to have increased levels of PFAS after seasonal wildfires leading to potential ecological risk.
How Well Do Product Labels Indicate the Presence of PFAS in Consumer Items Used by Children and Adolescents?
10 May 2022 | Environ Sci Technol
PFAS were detected in many products used by children and adolescents including clothing, face masks, mattress and pillow protectors, sheets, rugs, upholstery and menstrual underwear. PFAS were detected more often and at higher levels in products labeled as water- and stain-resistant.
Identification of Branched and Linear Forms of PFOA and Potential Precursors: A User-Friendly SMILES Structure-based Approach.
10 May 2022 | Front Environ Sci
A new computational toxicology method searched a database of over 10,700 structures and correctly classified PFOA and its related compounds as defined by the Stockholm Convention, with 100% sensitivity and 99.7% accuracy.
Serum PFAS and Urinary Phthalate Biomarker Concentrations and Bone Mineral Density in 12-19 Year Olds: 2011-2016 NHANES
10 May 2022 | J Clin Endocrinol Metab
Certain PFAS and phthalates may be associated with reduced bone mineral density in adolescent males, which may have implications for lifelong skeletal health.
