The emerging PFOS alternative OBS exposure induced gut microbiota dysbiosis and hepatic metabolism disorder in adult zebrafish
Science
16 Jan 2020 | Comp. Biochem. Physiol. C Toxicol. Pharmacol.
The PFAS alternative, sodium ρ-perfluorous nonenoxybenzene sulfonate, was found to change gut bacteria levels and negatively impact metabolism.

Removal of poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from water by adsorption: Role of PFAS chain length, effect of organic matter and challenges in adsorbent regeneration
Science
16 Jan 2020 | Water Res.
Short-chain PFAS found to absorb to organic material less efficiently making it harder to remediate from water.

Association between serum concentrations of perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and expression of serum microRNAs in a cohort highly exposed to PFAS from drinking water
Science
15 Jan 2020 | Environ. Intern.
Epigenetic mechanisms were proposed as a mode of action of PFAS toxicity in drinking water.

Highly fluorinated chemicals in functional textiles can be replaced by re-evaluating liquid repellency and end-user requirements
Science
15 Jan 2020 | J. Cleaner Prod.
The best non-fluorinated DWRs have water repellency as good as fluorinated polymers in textiles.

Groups calling to have PFAS listed as hazardous chemicals by the EPA
News
15 Jan 2020 | KTUU-TV
Listing under RCRA will subject the chemicals to strict storage, transfer, and disposal requirements. It would also result in the automatic designation of these chemicals as hazardous substances under the federal Superfund law, unlocking clean-up dollars to address contaminated sites.
-
As more PFAS contamination is found, federal action becomes more urgent
News
15 Jan 2020 | BDN
As we’ve learned from the containment and removal of other hazardous substances, costs only grow as action is delayed.

House passes sweeping bill to target spread of toxic ‘forever chemicals’
News
10 Jan 2020 | The Hill
Under the bill the EPA would be required to set a mandatory drinking water standard for PFAS. The bill includes a number of other measures that would further regulate PFAS, including requiring PFAS to be covered under the hazardous waste cleanup law, and imposes a five-year moratorium on the development of new PFAS chemicals.
